Gray appointed as first-team coach

Post  IceQueen on Wed 20 Jan - 3:59

New Burnley manager Brian Laws has completed the assembly of his backroom staff with the appointment of Stuart Gray as first-team coach.

Laws, who took over at Turf Moor last Wednesday, has brought in former Southampton boss Gray to help on the coaching side having already made Russ Wilcox his assistant manager.

Wilcox performed the same role for Laws at their former club Sheffield Wednesday.

Veteran Clarets midfielder Graham Alexander was promoted to player-coach last week and he will now support Gray, who was in charge at Southampton for a brief spell in 2001 and was Northampton boss for nearly three years before being sacked last September.

Billy Mercer, former goalkeeping coach at Wednesday, has also been appointed to a similar position at Turf Moor.
